According to the Office for National Statistics, it is estimated that the number of people working from home rose by nearly 75% between 2008-2018 and we all know that the Covid-19 Pandemic again increased this figure hugely as people were actively encouraged to do so.
We all understand the need for a healthy, work life balance and being able to work from home gives the user greater flexibility in achieving this. A garden office is far more than a ‘posh shed’ it is a high specification building which creates a comfortable, secure and professional work place which is suitable for many occupations.
If you run your own business or if your employer allows you to work from home then having a dedicated work space in your garden has probably already crossed your mind.
What are the benefits of owning a Garden Office?
You will have more time for you and your family (no more commuting).
Think about how much time you spend commuting and how this time could be better utilised. Research has shown that commuting has a negative effect on work-life balance, can increase stress levels and therefore reduce productivity. The extra 1 or 2 hours per day gained from not commuting could be used to spend time with family, going to the gym, spending time pursuing a hobby or simply relaxing!
You will have a dedicated workspace.
Having a garden office also enables the user to have a dedicated workspace away from the main house and potential distractions such as noise, interruptions or maybe you’ve even experienced moved papers? With a garden office, you still get the feeling of going to work in a secure and professional workspace whilst also having the benefits of home.
You will add value to your home.
Garden offices are attractive to potential buyers as they can see how the space can be used by themselves, whether this be keeping it as an office space or adapting to meet their own needs, such as a gym, play room, social space or hobby room.

Project Timeline
Choosing the size, shape and finish of your garden building is a big decision and here at Gardenplex, someone is always available to help you with those decisions.
Once these decisions have been made, we are then able to plan together regarding the install.
A typical timeline for a 3m x 3m build would be as follows and we would expect the time frame to be approximately 8 weeks, but this would be dependant on any necessary works and weather conditions.
Prior to Install
You will discuss with us your ideas such as what type of cladding, internal finish, heating, lighting, flooring etc. An agreement on any work prior to garden room build such as ground preparation, mains connection, water connections etc is also made.
We will also agree on a scheduled start date for the installation.
Any additional groundworks are undertaken e.g. ground preparation, mains connection, water connections. These are services that we can provide, or you may want to arrange these yourself.
You won’t see much happening, but lots will be going on behind the scenes as we begin to order and receive materials.
Again, although behind the scenes, we will be busy in the workshop!
