Insulation For Our Garden Rooms

Home / Garden Room Options / Insulation

Insulation is a key component to any garden building as this will determine how and when the building can be used. Our garden buildings are designed to be used all year round and meet the building regulations for new builds.

We achieve this by using Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)

Our Insulation Solution

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)

What are they?

Structural insulated panels are a modern, high-performance building system for residential and light commercial construction that offers excellent insulation values. The panels consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings of OSB (oriented strand board)

The result is a building system that is extremely strong, energy efficient and cost effective.

Why do we build using SIPs?

- SIPs are robust

SIPs are considered to be one of the strongest building materials available and have a durability similar to a steel I beam. Compared to traditional framed homes SIPs are more durable in varying weather conditions.

- Building with SIPs is easier and quicker

This means that the erection of the building takes less time, resulting in less disruption to you and ultimately saving you money.

- What is the U-value and what does it mean?

The U-value is generally used to describe the thermal performance (heat loss) of a material. The closer to Zero the U-value, the better the thermal performance. The units of measurement are W/m²K. The better-insulated a structure is, the lower the U-value will be.

It is widely recognised that SIPs provide a better U-value than traditional building materials.
